Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through an Internet connection. The regulations are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can range from game to game, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most money-making ones each and every instance.
As soon as the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game give the player a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further game is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
