Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos around the world, or in your house on your computer, through a net connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the highest mixture of cards possible in order to win cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the play button. A 5 card hand will be "dealt" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. After the player has selected which cards she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that skillful players are able to pick the most beneficial machine every instance.

Once the first round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that might have been won. Additionally, some styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their profits, in which situation another hand is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
