Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, using a net connection. The game rules are very simple and involve the player trying to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to acquire cash. On this account it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the play button. A 5 card hand will then be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has chosen which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable gamblers are able to choose the most profitable game each instance.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance another round is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
