Video Poker is a favored game that is able to be played in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with competing players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will be "distributed" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable enthusiasts are agile enough to pick the most profitable game every instance.
As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the bettor an opportunity to double their profits, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
