Electronic Poker is a beloved game that is able to be bet on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at your house on your computer, using a web connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be "handed out" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards she wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are agile enough to choose the most profitable machine each and every time.

After the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the player a chance to double their profits, in which case another game is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
