Video Poker is a beloved game that usually will be played in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through a net account. The game rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to get the greatest combination of cards possible in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with competing players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are given out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Typically, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced players are able to pick the most profitable game each instance.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either decide to stay on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game give the bettor a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance a further game is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
