Video Poker is a beloved game that can be gambled on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using a web account. The regulations are very simple and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to acquire cash. On this account it is very similar as a normal game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the player has chosen which cards she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning gamblers are able to choose the most money-making game every instance.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which instance another game is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
