Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, through a net connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to acquire money. On this account it is much the same as a normal game of poker, without the interaction with other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts will need to now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he or she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that discerning players are agile enough to pick the most beneficial ones each instance.

After the first round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Further, several styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their profits, in which case another round is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
