Video Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos around the world, or alternatively at home on your home computer, through a net account. The game rules are very simple and consist of the player trying to get the greatest combination of cards as you can in order to win money. On this account it is very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the play button. A 5 card hand will then be "distributed" on the screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.

After the player has chosen which cards he would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be dealt. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to select the most profitable machine every instance.

After the first round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that might have been won. Additionally, a few styles of the game give the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
